Stop The Sexualization Of Our Children

OPINION:

The far left has been hard at work normalizing the sexualization of young children. Attempts to expose children to sexual material are pervasive in schools across the country and often involve teaching the leftist gender and sexual ideology. From obscene books in school libraries to explicit content in entertainment, children from preschool to high school are faced with sexually charged content while their parents are kept in the dark.
Parents expect to send their children to school to learn math, science, history, reading and writing. Since children have fallen behind due to the COVID-19 school closures, communities and educators should be focused on bringing children back up to speed in these subject areas. Instead, schools have become Ground Zero for sexualization and indoctrination. Unfortunately, example after example shows the reality of sexual ideology infiltrating places meant for children.
In Virginia’s Loudon County Public Schools, a focal point in this fight, students were required to read a book containing sexually explicit material. The school libraries had graphic pictures of sexual acts between a boy and an adult man.
In a public school district in Illinois, children as young as preschool are taught about transgender ideology, and first graders are encouraged to experiment with their pronouns. Radical activists in Kentucky put on a virtual sex-ed summer camp for teens, and the organizers have been operating sex workshops for children for around a decade.
The sexualization of children is also being encouraged at the highest levels of government. In March, the Biden administration announced new measures to further the left’s gender identity agenda for children.
The left tries to cloak these instances in euphemisms of diversity, inclusion and acceptance, but it is a lie that is easily dissected. It is not accidental that the left is turning schools, once aimed at educating children, into mechanisms for exposing and enticing children to accept their radical sexual ideology.
Even more concerning is that adults in authority perpetuate this sexualization of children.
Parents, however, are fighting back against the left’s push to sexually brainwash their children. Members of Congress, including myself, have heard from numerous parents and grandparents concerned about the ongoing sexualization of children. I recently launched the Protect Kids Caucus to stand up and be a voice for these grandparents, parents and children in Congress.
As a mother and a grandmother, I am increasingly alarmed by the growing sexualization of children in our culture and schools across the country. I worry about the indoctrination my grandchildren and other children their ages could face, as children are exposed to sexually charged content at a younger age than ever before.
Conversations, which for years have taken place between parents and their children, are now being hijacked by far-left educators who do not have children’s best interests in mind. Like many frustrated parents, I am concerned about how pervasive sexualization undermines parents’ authority to decide what is and is not appropriate for their children. I hope that the Protect Kids Caucus can bring awareness to the dangerous sexualization of children nationwide and work to find solutions to protect our children.
